Hypocritical subdivisions

I thought, why doesn't 7fc post any of my submissions? Then realized wait, I have a blog! duh!

The following is a slightly modified version of Subdivisions, by Rush:

Sprawling on the fringes of his tallis
In geometric order
An insulated border
In between the shucklers
And the far unlit unknown

Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone
Nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone

[Chorus:]

(Subdivisions)
In the yeshiva halls
Within the shtiebel walls
Conform or be cast out
(Subdivisions)
In the day school
In the back of schul
Conform or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth the unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth

Drawn like moths we drift into the minyan
The timeless old attraction
Davening with the faction
Lit up like a firefly
Just to feel the living night

Some will sell their dreams for some rav's approval
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory of lighted streets on quiet nights...

[Chorus]

Summer scene....

It's the evening prior to Memorial Day, and after a hot sunny day, it's finally cooled off. The sun is beginning to set. I'm driving down the road with the windows open, drinking in the breeze. Bruce Springsteen is playing on the radio:

Clip Bruce Springsteen - I'm on fire - kewego
Clip Bruce Springsteen - I'm on fire - kewego

I'M ON FIRE

Hey little girl is your daddy home
Did he go away and leave you all alone
I got a bad desire
I'm on fire

Tell me now baby is he good to you
Can he do to you the things that I do
I can take you higher
I'm on fire

Sometimes it's like someone took a knife baby
edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
through the middle of my soul

At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet
and a freight train running through the
middle of my head
Only you can cool my desire
I'm on fire
-------------

And there's no work tomorrow. Does it get any better?

the-pinster: grand opening of my blogspot blog

I just love to sit on my raft, and float down the river of life. It always amazes me how little inconsequential events can lead to unexpected results. I go with it.

Never intended to start a blog. It all started when a friend in shul mentioned to me that a mutual acquaintance (actually MY acquaintance, HIS brother-in-law) had recently jumped from the Empire State Building. He mentioned that I would learn all about it if I would google his name. I did. One of the many sites I was lead to was Sevenfatcow, a blog wherein a thread regarding the ESB incident was discussed. Somehow, my cyber acquaintances and their blog sites kind of drew me in to the whole blog thing. Oh yeah... I had always ignored myspace, but now I had a page up and running. Then another blog, and another. But which to keep and which to dump? We'll have to see about that...
